Okay sisters--start thinking about a service project for ALL of us to be involved in between now and Dec. 31, 2010. There are so many opportunities out there that I think we will find we want to organize more than one for each of us (that might not sound right because we will actually be involved in each others, which makes us doing at least 6!). I'm thinking snow scooping could be an option, considering the amount we have, but not sure we are all up for back surgery!!! Let's really think outside the box on this one--think local as well as global. And hey, how about t-shirts? I think we need some printed up to wear when we are doing our sisters service projects or on our outings as sisters. What color do we prefer? Let me know and I can take care of this. Start thinking and let's get started serving others!

I have been following your blog - very good idea! I was wondering if coming and painting the several rooms in our house which need painting would be considered a local service project? :) Just Kidding!!! I am sure you will think of many great ideas! I am going to check out those books you are reading. - Emily
ReplyDeleteI think we must do something for Haiti. I'm thinking of doing something that would raise cash that we could send. How about a pamper yourself day -- we invite some people who would be interested in a foot soak/pedicure, manicure, a lovely dessert, maybe a chair massage, I don't know, just starting to spin my wheels. Then the people who come can kick in some money and we will send it to Red Cross or another reputable organization. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cool idea. Are we doing this at your house?
ReplyDeleteAs far as t-shirts -- color choice is pink (although black is slimming!!)
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I am serious. I know you are supposed to come up with ideas I just wanted to tell you what our MOPS group is doing. (And I think our family might also) We are sending boxes to service people over seas. Go to anysoldier.com to get info. It's amazing how many of these men and women don't get anything from home not even letters! These boxes are sent and they say any soldier on them and then the package is given to someone who does not recieve a lot or any mail. They really like the letters too. The boxes are sort of small but it is flat rate shipping and you can stuff it full! One of the MOPS moms sent an entire box of golf balls!!! - Apparantly they had clubs but no balls! It's sometimes funny what they ask for. Anyway, I just thought I would share. Emily
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Emily. I had even heard feminine products were a much appreciated item--oh, what we take for granted. And would that be terrible to have your period while you are trying to fight a war or what!!!????
ReplyDeleteLaurel you are right. There are women there too! And yes that would be terrible!!! I can't do anything for about a week I can't imagine trying to fight a war!!!
